The Whalsay ferry service is restricted today, following an incident involving Linga. Shortly after leaving Laxo terminal at 10.00 p.m. last night (Wed) a small fire was discovered, associated with one of the vessel’s three engines. This was quickly dealt with by the vessel’s crew but the emergency services were informed, and attended, as a matter of course.

Body found in Alness area identified as missing Wakefield man Published 10:54 Police Scotland can confirm that a body recovered from the Alness area on Monday 20th October, 2014 at around 6:00pm has been identified as that of Mark Burgess (58) who had previously been reported missing from the Wakefield area. Next of kin have been informed and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. There are no suspicious circumstances.
