Car Fire in Kirkwall

Police in Orkney are appealing for information following a car fire in the Holm Road area of Kirkwall.

The fire was discovered at around 1.50am on Sunday, September 2.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, though the BMW 5 series car was extensively damaged.

The fire is being treated as unexplained and officers are working to establish the full circumstances.

Commenting Detective Sergeant David Hall said:

"We are looking to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have information which could help us establish what has happened.

"If you can help, please contact Kirkwall Police Station on 101, using reference NK1338/18, or you can pass on information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
