Helicopter Incident, North Uist

Police Scotland and other emergency services have been in attendance at an incident involving a light aircraft on North Uist. (stock image)

Police were informed of the incident at approximately 10:15am this morning (Wednesday 15 June, 2018) and remain at scene responding to the matter.

As a result of the incident, the A867 was closed between Lochmaddy and Clachan Na Luib for a long period.

There was a diversion route via the A865 and motorists were advised to drive with care as the road is not suitable for larger vehicles.

No details have been released as yet as to whether there were any casualties.
