Kate Forbes MSP Officially Opens Carbost Play Park

By Reporter, The HighLand Times, Monday June 11 2018

The constituency MSP (pictured) for the Isle of Skye officially opened a new play park in Carbost on Saturday (9.6.18).

Kate Forbes MSP helped the parents behind the bid for the new park to secure £50,000 funding from the SUEZ Communities Trust Ltd, on top of the group’s existing sterling fundraising.

The Skye MSP visited the group at the old swing park last summer and heard from local mums and families as they explained the clear need for new play facilities for youngsters in the community.

Kate Forbes MSP said”

“I am delighted to officially open Carbost playpark, because it is such a brilliant story.

“It shows that there is no stopping determined mums, and dads and friends, who want to make a difference to their community.

“Not only did they have the idea in the first place, but they raised the necessary cash through hard work and a fantastic application to funders.

“It’s been brilliant to be part of the process in a small way, helping when and where I can.

“The best part is that kids in Carbost have an absolutely fantastic play park now.

“It’s enough to make me want to roll back the clock 20 years.”
