Tories are The Most Dysfunctional Government in Living Memory

By Reporter, The HighLand Times, Saturday June 9 2018

The Tory government is the "most dysfunctional in living memory" and has no interest in protecting jobs and living standards across the country, the SNP has said - after Boris Johnson continued to inflame the ongoing Tory civil war over Europe.

Speaking at a Tory party event, the Foreign Secretary called the Treasury the 'heart of Remain' and called for 'guts' in Brexit talks.

It is the latest in a long line of gaffes from the incompetent Foreign Secretary.

Responding, SNP MP and Europe Spokesperson at Westminster, Stephen Gethins (pictured), said:

"These comments would be utterly remarkable if it weren't coming out of the most dysfunctional government in living memory.

“For Boris Johnson, this sort of nonsense is - sadly - all too often the normal.

"While the Tories continue to jockey for position to assume control of this failing government and brief the press that they're ready to resign, the SNP continues to argue a positive case for Scotland's future - a far cry from the chaos of this Tory government.

"If the Tories really had any interest in protecting jobs and living standards across the country, they'd agree to the SNP's common-sense proposals to keep the UK in the single market and the customs union as the least worst option after Brexit.

"Given the ongoing chaos engulfing the Tory party, it is no surprise that independence is becoming the increasingly popular constitutional option amongst Scottish voters.

“Only the SNP has the ambition and a clear plan to protect jobs and living standards across Scotland."
