Conviction of David Ross for Drug Offences

By Reporter, The HighLand Times, Friday April 13 2018

David Ross was convicted for drug offences at Inverness Sheriff Court.

The 36-year-old from Inverness pleaded guilty to possession of amphetamine with intent to supply.

Ross was arrested following a search of a property in the Merkinch area of the city in December 2016.

During the search a quantity of amphetamine with a "street value" of approximately £15,600 was recovered as well as other drug-related paraphernalia.

The search was led by officers from the Community Investigation Unit, supported by a number of divisional and specialist resources.

Ross was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.

Detective Inspector Peter Mackenzie said:

"The arrest of David Ross followed a dedicated operation aimed at tackling his illegal activities.

"People like him only bring harm to our communities by dealing in illegal drugs which bring so much misery to people's lives.

"Our message to the drug dealers is clear - we will continue to proactively disrupt this criminal behaviour and take action against anyone we find to be involved in the drug trade.

"Our communities have made it very clear that they will not tolerate the trade in highly addictive drugs and Police Scotland relies on intelligence from the public to help tackle the drug trade.

"Anyone with information or concerns relating to the use or supply of illegal drugs should contact police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online."
