Fire on Grant Street in Wick

Police in Wick have appealed for witnesses following a fire within a store building at a yard on Grant Street in the town.

The incident happened at about 8pm on Saturday, December 16.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire.

Nobody was injured but the property was extensively damaged.

The fire is currently being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

Detective Sergeant Fiona Moar said:

"We are asking anybody with information to contact us as soon as possible.

"We are especially keen to speak to the driver of a dark coloured Mini who could be a witness, as the car was seen in the area at the time

"Anyone with information should call us on 101, quoting reference NJ/7135/17.

"You can also leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
