A96 Dualling 'Meet The Team'

Events set for Inverurie, Huntly and Blackburn.

Three “Meet the team” events are being held in November in Inverurie, Huntly and Blackburn to let the public meet the people designing the east of Huntly to Aberdeen A96 dualling scheme.

Representatives from Transport Scotland’s A96 Dualling team and their design consultants Amey Arup will be available to answer questions on the essential design and assessment process to be followed during the development of this stretch of the route.

‪Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Jobs and Fair Work, Keith Brown said:

“The Scottish Government has given a clear commitment to dual the A96 which will see delivery of around 88 miles of upgraded road between Inverness and Aberdeen, a huge task but one we are committed to delivering.

“Dualling the A96 requires careful, in-depth planning and design so that we deliver the right scheme and help tackle congestion, make journey times more reliable and, crucially, improve road safety.

“Having awarded the up to £50 million design contract earlier this year for the over 26-mile section between east of Huntly and Aberdeen, we are in the early stages of developing route options for the scheme and expect to consult on these next year.

‪“These 'Meet the team' events are an opportunity for locals and road users to hear first-hand from the people designing the route.

“As we progress the route options assessment, further public consultations will be undertaken as part of our rolling programme of engagement to ensure that communities, businesses and individuals affected by the work are kept fully informed and their vital feedback taken into account.”
