Follow The Jacobite Trail to Glencoe
Visitors can get an insight into the Jacobite story at the National Trust for Scotland’s Glencoe Visitor Centre this summer.
They’ve teamed up with Alba Adventure to offer living history experiences, as part of a special campaign.
The first event takes place on Sunday 25 June and is part of the On the Trail of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites initiative.
The National Trust for Scotland is working in partnership with National Museums Scotland, Royal Collection Trust and Historic Environment Scotland and is supported by VisitScotland.
Property Manager Scott McCombie said:
“Glencoe’s dramatic links with the Jacobites mean it should not be missed by anyone interested in this fascinating story.
“We hope that our special events will help bring this amazing history to life for visitors, in the spectacular scenery of one of Scotland’s most famous glens.”
Glencoe will be hosting more Jacobite-themed living history events on 16 July, 6 August and 10 September.
The campaign encourages people to get the real story of this dramatic period of Scottish history by visiting the National Museum of Scotland’s major summer exhibition, Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites (23 June – 12 Oct), and then heading out across the country to visit some of the places where these remarkable events unfolded.
In all, 25 properties with a Jacobite connection feature in the trail, including several National Trust for Scotland sites across the country.
