Public Image Ltd to Play The Ironworks
PiL would like to invite you to celebrate their fortieth anniversary with them at The Ironworks in Inverness.
What a booking this is, if you had ever told me that I could see John Lydon with PiL in Inverness again, I would have asked for a large one of whatever you were drinking.
But they are and I am at the front of the bus to get a ticket, this will be a gig not to be missed.
No wonder The Ironworks is thrilled to announce that Public Image Ltd will be playing the venue on Tuesday 28 August 2018 as part of their 40th Anniversary UK / Europe and Japan tour, which kicks off in May 2018.
The band’s last tour was in 2016 and it was regarded by many as the best performances the band have ever played.
The forthcoming 32-date headline UK/Europe leg of the tour also takes in festival performances in United Kingdom, Holland and Poland, including a headline set at Camden Rocks Festival in London on Saturday 2 June.
Widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential bands of all time, PiL’s music and vision earned them 5 UK Top 20 singles and 5 UK Top 20 albums.
With a shifting line-up and unique sound, John Lydon guided the band from their debut album ‘First Issue’ in 1978 through to 1992’s ‘That What Is Not’.
After a 17-year hiatus, Lydon reactivated PiL in 2009 by taking them back on the road worldwide.
John Lydon, Lu Edmonds, Scott Firth and Bruce Smith continue as PiL.
They are the longest stable line-up in the band's history.
Caroline Campbell, Venue Director, said:
“Public Image Ltd played the Ironworks as part of their 2016 tour and we're delighted to be welcoming them back.
“They were a huge success and their energy on stage is infectious.
“We're expecting this one to sell fast so make sure you don't miss out on the chance to catch them live!”
