Skye Swing Jazz Festival

By Reporter, The HighLand Times, Wednesday October 4 2017

Skye Swing Jazz Festival is back 27th - 30th October, withe three days of fantastic music, films, fun and dancing.

The Skye Swing Jazz Festival kicks off with an Oscar-winning film, Sunrise - A Song for Two Humans (main picture) accompanied by an innovative musical score written by Graeme Stephen and played live by one of Scotland’s most exciting and prodigious musical talents.

The event will take the form of a fancy-dress Hallowe’en-themed evening to get the festival going with a swing.

There is a prize for the best costume!

The second night of the festival, is a chance to dress up and hit the dance floor.

The Crusaders Time Machine will pay tribute to the enduring ’70’s sounds of The Crusaders.

The first set is made of tunes from the hard-bop era, followed by the second set featuring hits from the groovy period. This is a time travel through the history of this great band.

An amazing line up featuring Mario Caribe, Rick Taylor & Stu Brown.

We also have a guest appearance from Lorayne McLucas's LAMPA who will be performing a routine choreographed just for the festival.

The closing night of the festival is the hugely popular Duets Night.

Three duets, two trios and a sextet.

Six fantastic musicians and one unforgettable evening of music making.

Musicians are Al Price, mouthie, and Huey Dowling, guitar; Rick Taylor, trombone, and Bradley Johnston, guitar; and Fraser Fifield, pipes, whistle and sax, and Sodhi Tabla (pictured), percussion.
